Priority with the local fruit and vegetables and of season
Finis Terra has chooses to be supplied firstly in local products and of season for several reasons:
To build an equitable and durable partnership with the local producers
To limit the CO2 emissions related to transport and which contribute to the greenhouse effect. A fruit imported except season by plane consumes 10 to 20 times more oil than the same fruit produces locally and bought in season.
The fruit and vegetables of season are often less expensive, tastier and rich in nutrients because they were not forced under greenhouse.
Sweet peppers, aubergines, tomatos are available naturally on our premises from April to November, the season of the strawberries start in April. In winter, cook cabbages, leek, marrows, endive, corn salad
Concerning the fruit and vegetables nonavailable locally, Biocoop prefers them season and cultivated in France or failing this in Europe of the South. For example, the lawyer is available from October to July coming from Spain, and the kiwi from November to April coming from France or Italy. Only the fruit and vegetables are imported by far which are not cultivated in Europe (bananas, pineapple ).
